Adult Treatment Programs
Poplar Springs Hospital, located in Petersburg, Virginia, offers specialized mental health services for adults in need. Our comprehensive programs meet you wherever you are in your recovery journey.
Adult Services
Our programs are intended to meet the unique needs of patients who are experiencing psychiatric and substance abuse problems that impair their daily functioning. We offer a confidential, caring environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self-awareness, social skills and personal growth.
Programming at Poplar Springs is tailored to fit the different needs of different patient lifestyles and stages. We understand that adult life and mental health treatment can be a tricky balance, which is why we offer a wide variety of treatment plans, as well as a full staff of trained professionals here to help treat people with a range of addictions, traumas, and disorders. At Poplar Springs, we understand treatment isn’t a one size fits all, which is why we offer the following treatment programs:
Acute Inpatient Program
Our acute inpatient program offers stabilization for adult patients, a therapeutic structure, as well as intensive treatment program curriculum designed to treat patients who are demonstrating severe psychosis and aggressive behaviors. Poplar springs offers a progressive program designed to treat patients who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis and substance abuse symptoms.
Acute Crisis Stabilization
Our crisis stabilization and assessment programs for adults with exhibited history of suicidal and/or homicidal ideations and symptoms of psychosis due to mental health conditions or substance use disorders. We specialize in addressing patterns of dangerous behavior through long-term care, helping patients address issues through therapy and develop coping mechanisms to improve their quality of life.
Military Program
We also offers adult treatment programs for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. Our treatment programming focuses on the challenges of military life, transitioning out of active duty, and addressing common side effects of service, such as PTSD.
Detoxification Program
Our medically supervised detox program is for patients with psychosis or chemical dependencies on substances who need medical supervision while detoxing. Detoxing from substance abuse can be a delicate, and sometimes medically dangerous process, which is why we offer a supervised space to do so.
Partial Hospitalization
Partial hospitalization (PHP) is a step-down program offered from our inpatient unit for patients who do not need 24-hour observation. Partial hospitalization can be great for those who may need medication management help, or extended therapy sessions on a daily basis. Our PHP programming blends group and individual therapy into our daily curriculum.
