The Residential Treatment Center welcomes adolescent boys and girls ages 11–17 who demonstrate a persistent pattern of severe emotional and/or behavioral issues that are disruptive and frequent, and that cannot be treated in a lesser level of care. We provide short-term, intensive treatment in a structured, therapeutic environment.
Residential Life
Our secure campus allows the opportunity for our residents to walk daily to their education classes, treatment groups and cafeteria-style dining. The adolescents embrace the fresh air, openness and peaceful surroundings. Our living areas and bedrooms are spacious and decorated to personalize the adolescents’ experience during their journey to healthier living.
Personalized Learning
Our expert team of professionals brings experience in child/adolescent psychiatry, social work, nursing, chemical dependency treatment, special education and activity/ recreational therapies. The team, along with the residents and their support systems, creates a personalized treatment plan that emphasizes individuals’ strengths, challenges, preferences and learning styles.
We begin immediately with a thorough and accurate assessment. Treatment programs help adolescents achieve the specific goals and objectives identified as most crucial to the success of each individual. Our broad range of clinical services includes:
- Psychiatric visits twice a week
- Individual therapy three times a week
- Family therapy weekly; special programs for distant families (Ask us if you need assistance with transportation or lodging)
- Substance abuse education and addiction groups
- Life skills, social skills and leisure education groups
- Psycho-educational groups
- Supervised therapeutic community outings
- Special issues groups focusing on anger management, grief and loss, discharge readiness, trauma, self-injury and children of military parents
- Support groups for military teens
All residents attend the Learning Center, our private 12-month school licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
TRICARE Certified: We offer military lodging to our TRICARE families to assist families during the admission or discharge process, family visitation, family therapy or therapeutic passes. Please refer to the RTC Admission Coordinator or your clinician for reservations.
